Italy in one region

Le Marche is a glorious and unspoilt region of Italy, with beautiful countryside, lovely beaches and a plethora of places of interest – from historical sites such as Loreto, to the stunning caves of Frasassi. The fact that it is still relatively unknown in comparison to Tuscany and Umbria is a significant part of its charm, with few souvenir shops, no crowds and yet so much to see and do – and all in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Art and culture

The Le Marche region is rich in art history, and there are many places of interest to visit, such as Tolentino, where the Basilica is the home to Giottoesque frescoes dating from the 14th century. Or Urbino where the Palazzo Ducale houses some world class Italian renaissance art.

Nearby Macerata also hosts an annual celebrated opera festival which takes place in the magnificent outdoor Sferisterio, and is a spectacle not to be missed.

Food and Drink

Italians love their food! And the Le Marche region of Italy offers some of the best restaurants and the most exquisite gourmet food in Italy. From Michelin starred restaurants to small trattoria offering pasta made that morning by the local ladies, the food will not disappoint.

Italians are known for keeping the best of their wines to themselves, and a visit to some of the many local vineyards is a treat not to be missed for a wine lover.
