Santo Stefano sleeps 15 people in 7 double or twin bedrooms with en suite bath or shower rooms and one single room which can optionally be made into a small twin for young children. There are 2 additional shower rooms. This luxury country house has been designed with large groups in mind, and offers two separate well equipped kitchens and sitting rooms, a large dining room plus a number of terraces - so Santo Stefano is perfect for large groups who want to spend time together, but retain some independence.
Within the 5 acre grounds is a 50ft swimming pool which is well provided with comfortable loungers and umbrellas, and there is an outdoor pizza oven close to a shaded dining area. Guests can enjoy our 5 hole golf course situated in the grounds, where lessons are available at certain times of the year (advanced booking required). Others may prefer to relax in the tranquillity of the gazebo overlooking the lake, or to laze in one of the hammocks in the wooded areas surrounding the property.
The original property was a small monastery, and each wing of the house is named after its original use. The accommodation is as follows:
L’Oratorio (The Oratory) – a large and comfortable sitting room with open fire and many pieces of antique furniture, large flat screen TV, DVD and satellite, fully fitted dining kitchen with traditional worktop-high open fire, utility room, and downstairs shower room and toilet. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms – one with ensuite bathroom with Whirlpool bath, and one with ensuite shower room. A door from the Oratorio kitchen leads to -
Il Granaio (The Granary) – a beautiful drawing room provides seating for the whole party, with TV, DVD and Satellite available. The library provides a perfect place to escape to, with hundreds of books to choose from, and a comprehensive list of DVDs for guest use. There is also wireless internet access, and a desk provided in this room, as detailed in the Facilities section. From the entrance hall there is also access to a downstairs shower room and toilet, and the antique stone staircase leads to two double (one optionally a twin) and one twin bedded bedroom. The master suite has a dressing area and bathroom, and a private external staircase to the terrace. The other two bedrooms both have ensuite shower rooms. A passage leading from the hall opens into -
La Stalla (The Stalls) – with a large dining room and the bigger of the two kitchens - complete with American fridge, so ice is always on tap. The first floor gives access to a junior suite, with a small sitting room, also accessible via an outside staircase, and a spiral staircase to a galleried double bedded room. A private bathroom with whirlpool bath is accessed from the entrance hall to the suite. The second double bedroom has an ensuite shower room. A third single or small twin bedded room is also available, sharing the separated accessible private bathroom of the suite, or the downstairs shower room.
La Chiesa (The Chapel) – the chapel is deconsecrated, and is accessible from outside the property. It has many functions according to the type of holiday or event being held at the house. It is a wonderful place to relax, or to practice yoga – but for family and group holidays it is equipped as a small gym, with treadmill, exercise bike and weights available for guest use. There are also yoga mats, and guests have been delighted by the feeling of peace that pervades in the chapel.
But the chapel really comes into its own for civil weddings, when it can seat up to 50 people and create a very special atmosphere.
The bedrooms and living rooms have been furnished with guests' comfort in mind, and each room is supplied with luxury Christy towels for bathroom and pool, Peter Reed Egyptian cotton bed linen, and the Bontempi beds have been chosen for both their elegance and comfort. Each adult guest is provided with a cotton bathrobe for the duration of their stay, and exclusive toiletries are available in each bathroom..
